Sustainable Dyeing

Color is a very important element in the Fashion Industry, but the dyeing process can be harmful to the environment - 17 to 20 percent of industrial water pollution comes from textile dyeing and treatment. The techniques used to dye fabrics rely on water, chemicals and energy. Sustainable dyeing, printing and tanning methods focus on reducing the environmental impact throughout one or more stages of the process.
Natural dyes requires additional chemicals to fix the dye which can be harmful but environmental friendly fixatives exist and can be used to develop a sustainable product.
